Which Street is More Beautiful?

That is the question posed by this website, where users rank two side-by-side pictures of streets. As I mention in this post, urban beauty is an important thing to cultivate, but it’s sometimes harder to quantify or pin down.

The website linked to above is a research project hoping to enrich the authors’ understanding of urban aesthetics. It’s also a way for users think critically about what they find visually appealing in city streets.

  1. Well, it was a pretty easy decision for me. If one of the streets had litter, or graffitti, I voted for the other street. And I tended to vote for the one that had more shrubbery and trees.
