When I read that Utah County was ranked the third healthiest in the state, my initial reaction was to shrug. I assumed that Utah County was coming in after Salt Lake and Weber counties, which together make up the three largest urban counties in the state.
But upon actually reading the article, I discovered that in fact Utah County was only beaten by Cache and Morgan counties, which are both significantly more rural. That means that of the three major urban counties in the state, Utah County is the healthiest. And that’s significant.
Among other interesting statistics included in the article is the fact that 77 percent of Utah County residents have some college experience, and 93 percent graduated from high school. Both of those figures bode well for the region’s ability to thrive over time.
