The Old City Hall

While we’re on the topic of city hall, I thought it might be worth remembering what the original city hall looked like:

This building isn’t grand, but it is attractive. This is the information included in the archive with the image:

The old Provo City Hall which was dismantled after the City Center was dedicated in 1972. Originally the building was erected as the Provo Post Office in 1909.

This picture doesn’t really give away much information about the location of the building. However, the police station currently has a framed picture of this building hanging on a wall. Based that picture, I believe this building was located on the southeast corner of University Ave. and Center Street where today there are flowers and plants. If that assumption is true, that would be a sliver of the historic courthouse that’s visible on the right edge of this image.
