Downtown Facelifts and Convention Center Soft Opening

My colleague Genelle Pugmire reported Monday that a number of downtown businesses are receiving grant money to make improvements. All told, at least thousands of dollars are being spent to improve some of the older, more dilapidated buildings. Others are getting “blade signs” that stick out from the buildings.

Genelle’s article also notes that the Utah Valley Convention Center will start holding events this week, even though the official grand opening isn’t until May 12. However, for those people who can’t waiting another couple of weeks, a soft opening will take place May 7:

A soft opening party, “Cinco de Frio,” will be held Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Center Street Cafe inside the convention center.

Improvements at Bernina in downtown Provo, as of a couple of weeks ago.

The Utah Valley Convention Center officially opens May 12, but will hold a soft opening May 7.

Hi there, the event on May 7th is a private press event, not a soft opening. I do apologize but this was reported incorrectly. We do invite everyone to our Grand Opening on May 12 from 10am -4pm. or feel free to sign up for the Utah Valley Chamber’s Friday Forum.
