Streetfilms recently produced an excellent short video about cycling in Vancouver. The video highlights the extensive bike network in that city, points out several innovations they’re trying, and notes that getting kids and older people on bikes is a major goal.
This is the second time Vancouver has come up recently on this blog, and one of the people in the video explains why: it frequently ranks as one of the best, most livable cities in the entire world. And it’s no coincidence that Vancouver also happens to be building up biking infrastructure and adding density. Clearly, those efforts go hand in hand with improving quality of life and Vancouver seems to prove that fortune does indeed favor the bold.
Provo also ranks well for quality of life, but if city leaders want to keep it on all sorts of positive lists it’ll need more Vancouver-style innovation and boldness.
